Write Your Damn Book — it’s a Skill Most People Don’t Have

There are so many books out there that it’s impossible to count.

And when you’re thinking about writing one, or are writing one, you might feel doubtful.

You might think:

  • My book probably isn’t good enough
  • Why would anyone buy mine over thousands of others?
  • Am I really qualified to write this?
  • How could I possibly compete with all the other books?
  • What if people don’t like my book?
  • Everyone’s writing a book, there’s no way mine will stand out

Okay, it’s time for a reality check.

Look outside the writer bubble

Writers tend to hang out in writer-based communities. Especially on Medium but elsewhere too.

And when you do this (and it’s great, do it, you’ll learn a lot) it can feel like everyone is writing a book. And most them are better at it than you. Cue all the negativity.

But you’re in a bubble.

Step outside of that for a moment and look at your book from outside the writing community. Because that’s where the truth of the matter…
