Work Doesn’t Have to be Limiting (How to Create Your Career)
It’s no longer just employed or self-employed
There’s nothing that makes you feel more out of whack than incongruence. Where one part of your life doesn’t reflect who you are and what you value.
It’s a strange, abstract feeling that many people can never pinpoint. It happens in relationships where you know something’s not right, where you sacrificed swathes of who you are to fit with that person.
It happens when you’re ill and prevented from doing the things you want to because you need rest or you’ve been struck by a major health issue.
And it happens in work, where the traditional model doesn’t fit how you want to lead your life. You can feel that incongruence, like the saying, ‘trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.
But it doesn’t have to be like that anymore. The working world is changing and whilst attitudes aren’t quite keeping up, they shouldn’t hold you back.
The traditional ways of working
Once upon a time, there was just employed and self-employed. The majority of people were employed because, hey, it feels nice and secure. Even if you do only get 28 days holiday a year and that includes 8 bank holidays.
