Totally get it. I once went to a Starbucks in Bali because, frankly, I just wanted to sit in their familiar, air-conditioned outlet in peace and have a coffee. I actually felt bad about it, even though I’d visited every local place in town already. But so many of the local coffee shops were filled with #instagrammers arranging their coconut water and coffees in the most beautiful fashion and taking selfies. So I got over my weird food snobbery and enjoyed that Starbucks more than words can tell.

It really ties in with travel snobbery. So many people seem to look down on you if you’ve visited a huge tourist attraction and yet others say you haven’t ‘done’ the country (UGH) if you skipped it. I mean…who gives a shit? Do what you want to do, go where you want to go. That’s the beauty of travel, it’s an experience that yours alone.
