We live our lives in the company of birds. They hop around the table legs of street cafes, shit on our cars and soar overhead.

There’s possibly no type of wild animal we see more often and perhaps that’s why I love them so much. They’re just always around.

They’re such a part of our everyday lives that sometimes we don’t even notice them until something draws our attention, like a startling piece of birdsong above us in the park, or a seagull dive-bombing your sandwich.

Tales of City Birds

I’ve lived in Exeter twice and in four different houses all around the city. As a result, I feel like I’ve experienced possibly the entire spectrum of the city’s birds.

And trust me, there’s a lot.
