I have done the same thing although not in as extreme circumstances (by far). But when your job is not making you happy, when you watch the clock and sit on your sofa on a sunday wondering how the hell you got there, it’s time to make a plan to leave or Just Leave.

The other side of that is scary, but at least there’s opportunity to grow and be happy there. Whereas staying in a job that’s sucking the life out of you is only dangerous.
