I am so with you on this one. I wasn’t really a Disney kid and even less so as an adult, I’ve always resented the Boy Saves Girls theme that was so pervasive in the old Disney films.

I’m relieved that Disney is making films with stronger women in them, getting stuff done and not moping about waiting to be saved!

And I do think that we don’t need to have two tribes. Getting married can be as much of a wonderful piece of joy as becoming Sultan (you know…keeping in the spirit of things) — I mean…I know which I’d prefer (hint, not getting married), but I think the more we support each woman’s choices as equally valid and strong, the better we’ll all be doing.

I really loved this piece, it made me laugh! Especially when your daughter bemoaned it dragging on!
