I was watching Criminal Minds the other day (no justification needed) and the story revolved around a pair of spree killers. This was no equal relationship though, one was manipulating the other.

The FBI crack team only manage to breakdown the couple’s bond by explaining to one of them exactly what the other would say next. They knew (because every crim in the show is textbook) the techniques she’d use to try to manipulate him. So when she said the things the team told him she would, he could see her for what she is. And that clarity changed everything.
